The Quest for Soviet Legacy in Russian Foreign Policy

Russian foreign policy is a popular subject on which scholars have lately conducted much research. The current stage of these studies competent in explaining various aspects policy. Yet, considering both earlier and more recent works, there seems to be trend focusing solely the post-Soviet era. Relatedly, majority literature adopts perspectives that analyze period after Vladimir Putin’s rise power. Moreover, almost all prominent relatively less-cited research takes leader-oriented approach. Hence, despite satisfying heft literature, still gap regarding Soviet legacy behind Russia’s orientations. In other words, although most components goals Moscow’s been previously covered, role history/the mindset remains vague. To this end, review article thoroughly analyzes four selected books engages with their contributions terms defining formulations.
